What you find in certified establishments

Establishments are divided into four groups:


1. Accommodation – establishments offering lodgings for a fee (e.g. hotel, boarding house, hostel, private lodging, cabin etc.)


2. Camps – accommodation establishments that offer lodgings to visitors in their own or rented tents.


3. Catering – establishments offering warm food for a fee (e.g. restaurants, pizzerias, buffet, etc)


4. Tourist destinations and services:

- tourist destination: artificial or natural object, group of objects or area that tourist can visit, look at it, stay in it for a short period of time (e.g. castle, manor, chateau, cave, museum, gallery, public pool etc.)

- tourist service:  a service that benefits visitors of the establishment, it is related to tourism and is usable for cyclists (in present time it concerns only tourist information centers)


Each group has compulsory criteria that establishments must meet without any exceptions, and voluntary criteria a given number of which (or more) the establishment has to meet as well.


1. Criteria for Accommodation establishments


In each establishment you can find the following:

  1. Lodging possibility for one night.
  2. Low fat and re-energizing breakfast menu (yogurt, musli, fruit, etc.)
  3. Possibility to wash and dry your clothes and equipment.
  4. A free-of-charge lockable bicycle storage room or boxes.
  5. Basic tools for bicycle repairs.
  6. Possibility to wash your bicycle with the offer of corresponding equipment
  7. First-aid kit
  8. Information panel Cyclist Welcome! with updates and information about services for cyclists
  9. Displayed certificate

In addition to the above mentioned criteria, in each establishment you can find three of the following:

  1. Securing luggage transportation for cyclists
  2. Possibility to rent quality bicycles or its mediation
  3. Possibility to buy lunch boxes
  4. Rental or sale of basic bicycle spare parts
  5. Sale of cycling and tourist maps of the area
  6. A list and descriptions of recommended one day bicycle trips in the area.
  7. A list of accommodation possibilities for cyclists in the area.
  8. Reservation service of accommodation in other establishments offering services for cyclists.
  9. Internet access (own computer is not necessary)
  10. Information material in foreign languages.


     2. Criteria for camps

In each establishment you can find the following:

  1. Separate tent area for cyclists and other guests without cars.
  2. The area for building tents must be grassy, smooth and, if possible, on flatland.
  3. Possibility to store bicycles near the tents, free-of-charge bicycle parking in the camp area.
  4. Quality, if possible, sheltered, place for storing bicycles and luggage or a lockable room/box for free-of charge bicycle and luggage storing.
  5. Possibility to wash and dry your clothes and dry your clothes.
  6. Basic tool offering for simple bicycle repairs.
  7. Possibility to wash your bicycle with the offer of corresponding equipment
  8. First-aid kit

  10. Displayed certificate

In addition to the above mention criteria, in each establishment you can find three of the following:


  1. Securing luggage transportation for cyclists
  2. Possibility to sit at tables nearby the tent area, if possible, sheltered.
  3. Possibility to cook food using camp equipment.
  4. Possibility to buy basic groceries
  5. Sufficient lighting of access roads to the tent area.
  6. Rental of tents, cabins, bungalows etc.
  7. Rental or sale of basic bicycle spare parts
  8. Sale of cycling and tourist maps of the area
  9. A list and descriptions of recommended one day bicycle trips in the area
  10. A list of accommodation possibilities for cyclists in the area.
  11. Reservation service of accommodation in other establishments offering services for cyclists
  12. Internet access (own computer is not necessary)
  13. Information material in foreign languages.


    3. Criteria for catering establishments

In each establishment you can find the following:

  1. Offer of drinks suitable for the needs of cyclists composed from at least one sugar free non-alcoholic drink, at least one fruit tea and at least one herbal tea. The price of these items may be higher than the price of other non-alcoholic drinks and beer.
  2. Offer of at least one warm and one vegetarian dish, non fried food during the whole opening period, as well as low fat dishes (for example food from wholegrain pasta, fruit and vegetables, etc.)
  3. Quality, if possible then sheltered, place for storing bicycles and luggage in the eyesight of visitors or a lockable room/boxes for free-of charge bicycle or luggage storing.
  4. Basic tools for simple bicycle repairs.
  5. First-aid kit

  7. Displayed certificate.

In addition to the above mention criteria, in each establishment you can find three of the following:

  1. Possibility to get lunch boxes
  2. Food and beverages menu in three different languages (Slovak, English + optional language)
  3. Offer of local specialty dishes
  4. Special offer for cyclists
  5. Opening hours throughout the entire day
  6. Possibility to dry your clothes and equipment.
  7. Possibility to wash your bicycle with the offer of corresponding equipment
  8. Rental or sale of basic bicycle spare parts
  9. Sale of cycling and tourist maps of the area
  10. A list and descriptions of recommended one day bicycle trips in the area.
  11. A list of accommodation possibilities for cyclists in the area.
  12. Internet access (own computer is not necessary)
  13. Information material in foreign languages.

    4. Criteria for tourist destinations and services

In each establishment you can find the following:

  1. Quality, if possible, sheltered, place for storing bicycles and luggage or a lockable room/box for free-of charge bicycle and luggage storing.
  2. Basic tool offer for simple bicycle repairs.
  3. First-aid kit
  4. Information panel Cyclist Welcome! with updates and information about services for cyclists
  5. Displayed certificate

In addition to the above mention criteria, in each establishment you can find three of the following:

  1. Possibility to wash your bicycle with the offer of corresponding equipment
